That's fair. For the record, I very much hope your son receives his call soon.
That experience will be far more important to his future than attending BYU, in my opinion. I've had children who attended BYU and children who attended other schools. My children who did not attend BYU seem to have better career opportunities than those who graduated from BYU, and they are every bit as strong in the Church, so this situation may not be as dire as it appears at the moment. Have him enroll at UVU and then if he feels the need after his mission he can transfer to the Y or he could get lucky
