That's a phenomenal amount of energy...
A blue jet is a type of "backwards" lightning that shoots upwards from thunderstorm clouds instead of downwards. They can reach as far 50 km into the stratosphere. Many of them last less than a second. Can't imagine how much energy would hit earth if it went the other way.
