You have two of the most valuable properties in college football, and have the chance to destroy the #3 conference in revenue. Any conference that doesn't take them would be giving themselves a mortal wound. The SEC would be giving the Big 10 an opening to get back in the game as the top earning conference. It would be a huge strategic error.
