The stigma surrounding hospice care needs to go away. Was just told by a family
Of a 90 year old man with stage 4 wounds that they were not going to pursue hospice for their dad. This comes after a wound clinic declined to take him because his wounds are so terrible and they can’t do anything for him. They recommended hospice.

Instead of giving this nice old man frequent nursing visits throughout the week, CNA visits to bathe him, and 24/7 on call service if a need arises, they’ve decided to let him sit in his wounds because hospice is just not for him. He’ll probably end up going septic and die in the hospital.

It’s sad that some people just shut their ears off completely when they hear the word hospice.

If you have a loved one getting close to needing hospice please fully understand what hospice is before you or them say no.
