But if so, that’s an easy reason to leave BYU out. They could easily skip over Provo and pick up Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and the two Kansas schools. All are Tier 1 and part of the AAU.
Granted, three current PAC 12 schools aren’t in the AAU (ASU, OSU, and WSU), but they’re all Tier 1. Texas Tech and West Virginia would fall in this category.
Baylor and TCU are the same as BYU and Boise State—Tier 2 schools and not in the AAU.
I think the Big Ten has similar academic requirements as the PAC 12. So if that’s a determining factor in anything, my guess is BYU, Boise State, Baylor, and TCU could be the odd ones out if the Big XII folds. The ACC could snatch WVU and other schools back east. But Ten could take in Iowa State and someone like Cincinnati. PAC 12 takes in OK State, Kansas schools, and TTech.
Obviously I know no more than anyone else about how things work in college football.
