shoganai Intervention Needed
I feel like we've officially arrived at the stage where realignment stops being
tethered to common sense.

16 teams is stupid. It was stupid when the WAC tried it, and it's stupid now. I felt like 12- and 14-team conferences were already too big for a lot of reasons. Now, I don't know that 16 teams can even really be called a "conference." It's just a small league at this point. And why stop now? Why not 18 or 20? Clemson and UNC to the SEC!

And supposedly everybody's going to react and add more teams? OK, maybe that sort of works for the B1G and ACC (sort of, maybe...). But then we get ridiculous scenarios like the Pac-12 adding Texas Tech? Or even an MWC leftover?

I think we've crossed the threshold of sanity now. I posted before that the whole accelerating realignment scramble feels like a continually more desperate attempt to stop a leak in a dam. College sports just aren't working right anymore, and the only solution anybody has left is to keep rearranging teams.

But, the leak is still spreading...
