I think there is a path, but it involves the Pac and Big10/ACC taking other
Big12 teams.
If there are only 3 or 4 Big12 teams left standing, its reasonable that there isn't a conference to salvage and they join the AAC.
I don't think its likely, but I think that is the scenario people have in mind when they discuss members of Big12 going to the AAC.

The craziest scenarios to me are those that think the AAC will grab the B12 leftovers, and not the other way around.
