Why do people automatically assume every conference is going to expand to 16
every time there's a conference realignment rumor?
Rumor: OU and TX are trying to join the SEC
Knee-Jerk reaction: The P12 will have to respond by trying to add teams W, X,Y and Z to also get to 16.
No they don't. Just because one conference or set of teams are talking about relocating conference affiliation, it doesn't mean anyone else has to do anything. Only if opportunities arise to increase the size of the pie slices after dividing the pie into even more pieces will any other conference make a change.

To clarify, I don’t think the NCAA will be the governing body of the resultant (Lifi, Jul 24, 2021 at 9:23pm)
