a P5 conference. Many of the top guys they get now, including transfers from places like Oklahoma and LSU would go elsewhere. The prestige just wouldn't be there for them. After just a few years Utah would be back to where they were talent wise post MWC. They have a great coaching staff, and have learned a lot about how to run a successful program (much of which came from Urban), some of the tactics which I personally feel are toxic, but at any rate, Utah may still win a good amount of games per year but it would be against a much weaker schedule, (would they go independent like BYU? Doubtful it work as well for them) so would lose cred and be lumped into that same category as many of the non P5 teams are now when successful.
