Could it be adapted to football?
The team that is ahead with 8 minutes left in the game simply has to score and the game is over. The team that is behind would have to take the lead and then score again to win.
The problem is scoring can be rare enough that games might drag on frequently. It would also do away with the 2 minute drill situations at the end of games.
