Vannini: Realignment sucks:
It has destroyed regional rivalries.
It has taken regionalism out of the conferences. Fans can’t drive to all the away games.
OU and Texas have preferred nation status in the Big 12 but that’s not enough. They want more. Texas is never satisfied. How long will it take them to become dissatisfied in the SEC and begin to cause problem there? That has been the pattern where ever they have been.
Bigger conferences don’t do fans any favor. TAMU has been in the SEC for 10 years and has played Georgia only once; it won’t host the Dawgs until 2024. Adding two more teams will only exacerbate the problem.
When money is involved, collegiate athletic become a business, a brutal one.
But no amount of money will ever be enough.
