Big 12 has actually been very competitive in Football. Outside of KU and TTU
everyone else has contended for the conference championship in football in the past 5 years and at least finished in the top 3. Overall, a very balanced conference.

You could say that about every P5 conference. Maybe the number varies a little (but not much) by conference
