Definitely don't want to injure the skunk anywhere near your house unless you want you and your property to be stinky for all time.

Skunks are relatively easy to trap. I don't know about drowning it, though. Wouldn't it release it's spray when it dies?

No. Drowning them in the cage is a very common tactic.

Skunk cages are designed to prevent the skunk from spraying.

This. A skunk won't spray if it can't lift it's tail, and the skunk traps are long and narrow. There's no room for them
