And a tiered system of college football where different groups of schools have greater access to selection for national championships regardless of actual performance will never be close to fair until it adopts something similar. I wish this round of realignment found a way to include that, but it's probably impossible. I still can't believe that the perennial bottom feeders of the PAC12, BIG 12, and ACC have better access to a national championship (and its spoils) than BYU, Boise State, UCF, etc.
