It's Zach's agents/lawyers who are handling the contract process and negotiations. Sounds like they are only asking for what is right for Zach. These items have precedence with other contracts, teams and with the Jets.
So it's only reasonable that the Jets #2 pick get a fair contract.
The Jets want to push money into 2022 and not pay Zach his signing bonus now but in later payments. So the Jets are short of cash apparently. That's not Zach's fault. They should pay the signing bonus now.
The Jets are apparently balking at offsets. Offsets have been included in other Jets contracts and seem only reasonable to be included for Zach.
So it appears that the Jets look bad. Not Zach. His agents are likely only asking what is fair and reasonable.
