Exactly. As a set of ideas, I think Rand is really interesting. As a work of art
AS is terrible.
Philosophically, she has interesting things to say. But she should have said them in a short essay.
And yes, like the BOM, if those ideas resonate with you, maybe you have some bias toward the work of art too. But I think in either case of you look at them just as art - forget about whether you like the message - they’re really, really bad.
Contrast with Fountainhead, which I think it a really great book - ideas are interesting and thoughtful, and it works as a story, character arc, etc. It’s quite good.
