Everyman Intervention Needed
It doesn’t work like that and Aresco knows it.
Autonomy is not awarded because of performance.

If the AAC desires autonomy, it must first petition the other 356 Division 1 schools. If a majority of schools are in favor and if no more than 75 opposed, the NCAA Council will following the if the membership and grant autonomy.

If 75 or more object it have problems with the petition, the the matter is tabled until the Council has heard the reasons for their objections. Historically, if 75 or more object, the proposal is doomed.

I have always wondered why the AAC has never sought autonomy through the established protocol and has always tried to use the court of public opinion.

It is my belief that Aresco suspects that the legion to the general membership would fail.
