I never would have believed the AAC could ever kill the Big 12 but at this moment it is more likely the AAC outlives the Big 12 or is the stronger conference after all is said and done.
They will cling onto their little lifeboat of a TV contract and UT/OU payments for 3-4 years, probably not expand (or maybe make some meager gesture by bringing in Houston), pray/beg that someone saves them and stare into the abyss when renegotiation comes. Meanwhile, they are at odds with ESPN, THE biggest player in college football outside the SEC.
Nobody of influence cares if they survive, some are actively rooting for their demise. Yet, right now they can guarantee they have a place, even if reduced, at the big boy table by decapitating the AAC and expanding west with at least BYU.
But…no. They are frozen and incapable of foresight. They are rearranging chairs on the Titanic.
