In 2019 we played USC at home with a visiting freshman QB, Slovis, who was feeling pretty confident coming off a great performance early in the season.
The game plan was perfect - rattle the freshman QB with pressure rarely seen from a Tuiaki scheme. The result was turnover after turnover.
Fast forward to Vegas and we face unproven QB’s who’s only long ball was straight to our player (with no offensive player within 15 yards of the ball). Our defensive scheme is to give him anything they want in the flat and to play 10 yards off his receivers on the edges.
Credit Coach, we did being pressure (when it really mattered) but AZ shouldn’t have had anywhere close to half the TOP that game.
But hey we won so NBD. It just could have been a more entertaining game with a different scheme. Watching opponents grab 4/5 yard chunk plays on multiple sustained drives isn’t super fun.
