I’m not talking about being a fan of the mission of BYU or what it stands for or anything like that. I’m talking about being a fan of BYU football and BYU basketball. Everything changes.

Once BYU is in the Big 12, no more:

-having to justify the value of Independence, or whether or not it’s sustainable
-having to argue the quality of the G5 (non-BSC) league we were part of
-having to talk yourself into the quality of the WCC
-settling for a terrible November schedule
-justifying playing in the potato bowl on Christmas Eve
-etc

Just all the dumb crap that us fans have had to justify, talk ourselves into, and argue about all goes away. Sure it will be replaced by brand new stuff to be insecure about, but I’ll take it.

Kudos to Holmoe for executing his vision. We have been blocked out of the big boy table forever, so he put our program in a position to be considered a P5 anyway. I can’t think of another former G5 member that could do it. And that strategy worked perfectly. The second there was an actual crack in the P5 front, BYU is “unquestionably the best option”.

Bravo Tom. Get the man his second ADOY trophy already. 🏆 🏆
