When WCC accepted BYU Tom Holmoe said one thing he realized in this process was that BYU had friends.

It was at a time BYU needed friends, because the WAC had schools that BYU couldn’t work with easily any more because of the unbalanced TV issues, and some of them were very adversarial. TH found WCC had teams that didn’t act like adversaries other than on the sports fields, in a sporting way.

I have a lot more respect for teams like Gonzaga now because of this.

Also reminder that many of the small gyms hold their entire student body. MC could never do that so maybe it's small. 😉
