My senior year at West Point we were going on 14 years losing to Navy. If you think BYU fans were despondent… you should’ve seen Army fans after 14 years of mostly blowout losses. Before the game my sign made it onto the front row of Game Day and i was able to talk to coach Ken during a commercial and said “I hoped you paid your tithing!” He laughed and shook my hand and said “My wife does that mostly- I should’ve double checked!” We stormed the field and someone even drove a small tank onto the logo mid field. It was a top 5 weekend!
I hadn’t been to a BYU-Utah game since 2009 and I flew in this weekend with my wife for a friend’s wedding and we went to the game. My dad joked that I could bring the magic from the Army-Navy game with me. We stormed the field- my dad looked like an 18 year old he was so excited. He was a track and field athlete for BYU and wouldn’t believe we won until the victory formation. Again- a top five weekend!
Moral of the story? If your team needs to break a decade+ streak, BM me and I’ll be there!
