I dunno...there's even some hypocrisy in that
We talk about what a good experience it's been for Sione Takitaki or Neil Pau'u, how they started down a wrong path and made some mistakes, but that the team stood by them, helped them grow as a person and get back on their feet in that regard first, and only secondly as a football player. Which is awesome.

But when players are given the opportunity for the same redemption arc at Utah, we don't react the same way.

Look at the difference in reaction between when Munir McClain transferred to Utah and when talking about Chaz Ah You.

McClain was under investigation for unemployment fraud, sat out during that time, and ultimately wasn't charged. Doesn't mean he didn't do it, but there wasn't enough evidence to legally make a case. So it was dropped. Same story with a host of other Utes. Dominique Hatfield was charged with armed robbery...but the case was dropped.

Chaz Ah You was cited for DUI, but the investigation/process was done so poorly that much of the evidence was inadmissible and the case was ultimately dropped. Much like McClain, there's no firm answer on whether or not something actually happened, but definitely not enough to legally make a case. So it was dropped.

McClain transferred to Utah and the reaction was that Utah is bringing in bad people and lots of insults directed to the program and their culture. But brining up Chaz Ah You's legal troubles here is a taboo subject and likely to have a post removed. To be clear, I'm not arguing that we should excoriate or criticize Ah You or Pau'u or whomever. As far as I'm concerned, those things are in the past (if they ever happened) and they deserve the benefit of the doubt. But that applies to people trying to get their life back on track at whatever school it is.
