Prior authorization for glucose test strips is predatory. Super easy for an
insurance company to see a claim that lists Diabetes or pre-diabetes. This should be automatically defaulted to 1 strip per day, no iffs ands or buts. If Diabetes II is on a claim AND there is a prescription for pre-meal insulin, this should automatically default to 4 strips a day. If there is DM II and no insulin, once a day. Prior auth the other DM II situations.

Why would an insurance company not want to pay for test strips is beyond me...if the patient doesn't test, they have a higher A1C and subsequently higher risk of comorbid complications.
