Just like Army, right?
I'm guessing you mean because the SEC recognizes BYU as fulfilling the P5 requirement. But it's worth noting that they do the same for Army as well. So, there's that.

More importantly though, even if BYU was considered a P5 over the last 10 years, we haven't done much in that span to be consistently relevant. Last year was great and if we follow it up with another good year (which I'm now more optimistic about than ever), we'll start to get some sort of following as more than a cute feel-good story. One magical year just doesn't make a team into a major national story in other years. Right now BYU/Utah just isn't as huge a game on the national scene as I'd like it to be, where fans of other teams from around the country follow it and can tell you about it.

Eventually it'd be great if we can get there, but there's only about 3-5 games each week that most people could tell you about that don't involve their team or a conference mate. Last week, those were probably Oregon/Ohio St, Florida St/Jacksonville St, Iowa/Iowa St, Texas/Arkansas and maybe Stanford/USC (mostly as a result of Helton being fired).

Saying that BYU/Utah wasn't a huge deal on the national scene isn't wrong, and it's really not a big insult either.
