being able to replace assistants when they inevitably leave. If we keep playing well, I could see pretty much any of our assistant coaches leaving and perhaps taking one or more of the others with them, if they get an HC job.
This is generally a good thing, as it allows them to progress in their careers and perhaps return to BYU in a larger role some day, if it works out. In any case, we thankfully should be in a competitive position to hire good, up-and-coming coaches with experience that can hit the ground running, unlike some of our past hires who have had to do a fair amount of learning on the job (some of these have gone down in flames, and others eventually thrived).
