Exactly. “Great coaches” are mostly great sales people/recruiters. There’s no X’s and O’s that can overcome inferior
talent and ability. At the end of the day, the coaches don’t catch or drop the ball. They don’t sprint down a sideline 70 yards to make a game saving tackle on a turnover etc.

Their job is to recruit players to get the job done and make them look good.

The other aspects to coaching is cultivating a culture that leads to wins. Discipline, dedication, teamwork … basically all the cliches.
