This is a game theory problem not a probability one.
In game theory you look at finding the best worst case outcome.
So the question is: would you prefer the slight possibility of being up one score (with a two point conversion), over the guaranteed option of being up 2 scores with a minute and change left in the game.
My answer is “no thank you.”
