You are leaving out an important part of the equation
If the probability of the kick being blocked and returned for 2 pts is 0.0001 and the probability of a quick TD and onside kick etc. is 0.001, then it is a no brainer you take kick.
I’m not saying those are accurate probabilities or that one is more likely than the other, but you can’t refrain from considering the probability of an outcome just because you like the idea of being up 2 scores for sure. Instead you do the option that gives you a greater probability of winning, which is what this poll is asking. It looks like CB is split evenly on evaluating that.
