Once BYU joins the Big 12, returning to that scheduling format is not BYU big timing Utah State. Unlike Utah, BYU would actually keep the series going. The consistent H/H's with Utah State didn't start until BYU was desperate for games as an Independent. BYU is no longer desperate for non-conference games. They can't even fit all the ones they want to play into a single season's schedule. Utah chose to abandon the Utah State series altogether when USU asked for any home games. Agreeing to play USU 2-for-1 is simply what BYU needs to do once they join a P5 conference.
