17 ICU patients died of COVID over the weekend in our ICU. One was a…
30yo that had just given birth.
We’re full, shipping patients to Washington, Oregon, Montana, Nevada and Utah. When we have an opening, we’re getting frantic calls from other states who ship to us. This is far worse than anything last year.
I usually do anesthesia in one of our ORs. But they’re all closed except emergencies. Surgery center is closed. Endoscopy clinic is closed. Why? Because all staff are needed on the floors for COVID patients. I’m back in the ICU intubating and ventilating patients who were thinking about getting the vaccine. Idaho is lagging behind the whole nation in vaccination. We’re tired. Tired of watching friends die, tired of telling people “We’re gonna take good care of you” before I put them to sleep for intubation, knowing that 78% of those folks will never wake up.
So how can you help? It’s sad but I can’t even say it. I can’t tell anybody what they can do to help themselves and their loved ones. If I do you may be offended. The people dying in our ICUs were offended when someone told them what they could do to help too. Please, I don’t wanna be right. I’m not making any money off this. I want to see folks live and thrive. Please help yourself if you haven’t already.
And Jefe, I can’t bring myself to call this COVID “Politics”. It’s not politics. I’m not a member of any party. This is not a political agenda. I’m a health professional asking folks for help. It’s about health. Health and fitness. If you’d like to move it, I understand. I put it where I, honest to God, believe it should be posted, where it fits best.

Not in Idaho, but we had 3 patients under 28 die in our hospital over the weekend. A 4th who was thirty died at home.
