should. In 1984, Michigan beat a Miami team that finished in the top 10 at the end of the year. Four of the six losses came against ranked teams. Michigan had a ton of mid-season injuries that contributed significantly to their losses. Most of the injured players were back in the lineup at the time of the Holiday Bowl.
Michigan had finished ranked #8 in 1983 and they finished ranked #2 in 1985. That was a very talented team whose record, thanks to the midseason injuries, did not match the actual ability of the team that took the field in December of 1984.
