Disagree. Randomness plays a large role, especially in football and ice hockey.

Studies show that the rounder the ball, the more controlled the venue settings, the less players involved in gameplay, the more scoring attempts in a game, and the more games per season, the more likely the better team is to win the game and over the season.

It's apparently why baseball and basketball results are less random than football and hockey.
