5 thoughts to help you feel better about this loss win, & enjoy it more
1) This was our trap game coming off the 3 PAC12 victories, and we started it by blowing the doors off USF en route to a 28-6 halftime lead. No problem coming out focused.

2) We played all or significant parts of last night's game without 6 starters, including our starting QB and the captains of both the offense and the defense, meaning it was our first game adapting to missing the most important players on both sides of the ball

3) Our backup QB just threw for a season high 305 yds, 3 TD's and an efficiency rating of 222!

4) USF spent a grand total of 10 minutes of the game being within 1 score of BYU, the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes. Once they scored to get within one score of us (8 points) in the 4th Qtr, they never saw the ball again.

5) We have not trailed this year

For those frustrated with this game, ask yourself the following questions:

"Am I frustrated because I expected a blowout?"

Why did you expect a blowout? BYU hasn't "blown out" anyone this year. We have never trailed and won fairly comfortably (2 scores), but we haven't blown anyone out. Have you considered the fact that BYU might just be managing the game to win, not to blow a team out? In other words, dialing down the risk once we get a lead in order to ensure the W? So playing smart football.

"Am I frustrated because I wanted our defense to not give up so many yards or points?"

Do you want wins or do you want defensive statistics? Like I said above, it's clear to me that BYU is managing games, so you see an aggressive D that gets after the QB which, once we get a big lead, turns into a defense that keeps things in front of them and forces a team to execute long, time-consuming drives to try to get back in the game - and so far, they've not been able to do so. AKA it is working. It's hard to criticize this approach if it has won the last 15 of 16 games.

"Am I frustrated because BYU didn't 'look like a top 15 team'?"

Look, we have a schedule that is respectable enough to have us in the conversation in the small chance that we can actually get through undefeated. We don't need to be worrying about margin of victory to impress voters, certainly not in game 4. Besides, does anyone really think that we will ever have a shot at a NY6 at large bid as a non-P5? You can already see what the argument against us will be, and it is the same argument that has always been used - "yeah, they beat 7 P5's, but no SEC or B1G teams, and the combined record of their P5 opponents was XX-XX (some terrible record), their resume just doesn't compare to (insert 1 or 2 loss SEC or B1G teams)."

"Did I pick BYU to be 4-0 at this point in the season before it began?"

No, you didn't. So just enjoy it!
