I'm just a former HS coach so I can (occasionally) see the scheme and personnel side of things a little better than the average fan.
My only ever "inside source" was Andrew George when he was a GA, and he never even gave me anything juicy...
Kalani tends to err on the side of caution with injuries; so if guys aren't a "full go" in practice by Wednesday, they aren't going to play. Now, finding out who practices on by Wednesday is the challenge.
Guys we can win without: Jaren Hall (apparently); one WR/TE (maybe 2); one DL; one DB. I think if we are missing 3-4 guys on D (not counting Pili), we might be in for a shootout.
I think the overlooked thing with the D from Saturday: some of those guys were seeing action for the first time this year and USF was going fairly fast in terms of tempo. Those guys are on film now, coaches can evaluate them and help them improve by providing specific things to work on. It's difficult to help guys getting their first game-time of the season (or ever) to adjust on the fly. Get them in the film room, talk them through some stuff (good, bad, and ugly), and help the other guys on the D learn how to coach them on the field...those things are under-valued by fans/on CB.
