I did grad school in stats and became a pension actuary in 1987. Spent seven
years terminating pension plans and was laid off from three jobs. It’s definitely true that actuaries are people who are too boring to be accountants. Worst job I ever had, even worse than technical writing.
There are still actuarial jobs in life, health, and property/casualty.

BYU’s ACME program is top notch. My son graduated in ACME from BYU. Now in Masters at Rochester Institute of Technology
