Yesterday's loss by Alabama against aTm should be enough for most to realize
that even the best coached team with the best recruiting and depth can still lose to an unranked team when turnovers are in play. No, its not the only story, but Alabama still lost. Their coaching, culture, discipline, and athleticism nearly got them the comeback win, but the loss still happened.

There were some questionable coaching/game management situations in our game vs BSU and some definite head scratching situations, but I think our offense is the biggest factor in the loss. We were clearly protecting Hall from further injury and avoiding any situations requiring him to use his feet (that was the right call, BTW ... you always protect your #1, especially when #2 is not available). However, once the rain started and 1a) Hall struggled with the wet ball and passing accuracy, and 1b) ball security became a problem (I credit BSU for ball hawking and perfect hits to generate those fumbles), we struggled to find an effective way to move the ball.

BSU took advantage of the take-aways and got points/put us in a hole that we couldn't quite dig out of. We've show we play great with a lead, but I wondered how we would do coming from behind. We have a young team and players were "pressing" and trying to do too much resulting in additional missed opportunities and mistakes. They will learn from that and get better.

Tyler A and Katoa will be fine. Even the best RB's (like Jamaal) have an occasional fumble when the D puts a perfect hit on them. Hall will be fine also. I'm still not quite how sure our O-line didn't dominate their front 7 given how other teams were able to run on them, but BSU was clearly selling out to stop the run and the twist of fate that impacted our passing game and ball security (rain) benefited them significantly. And yes, we need to be better at dealing with wet footballs and the elements. I wouldn't be surprised if the indoor practice facility gets very little use on any weather days this next week or two.
