There isn't a single basketball team, from youth leagues to NBA, or a single racing team, from go-karts to Formula 1 who are on the outside looking in. But expanding access to the College Football Playoff is somehow seen as impossible?
Is there a single team in any league of any sport anywhere on Earth that is *not allowed to* win their league championship, outside of FBS-level college football? I am not aware of any league or division that simply disqualifies a single participant (other than for rule violations), let alone half of the competitiors.
Imagine if athletes from the Southern Hemisphere were just not eligible for the Olympics. Or if the NFC simply wasn't invited to the Super Bowl. Or if the NASCAR cup series just disallowed anyone driving a Chevy from winning the cup.
The fact that G5 programs don't have access to the playoff is unconscionable. I hope that BYU fans don't lose sight of that.
We are now on the inside, but we need to still fight for those excluded by absurd, arcane structural problems with the current method of determining a champion.
