Seems that multiple talking heads are saying that while Gruden needed to go,
it’s clear that the NFL had it out for him, wanted him gone, and intentionally tried to take him down.
- The league has access to these emails as part of their investigation of Washington, so any leak would be from the league itself.
- The emails weren’t shared with some random sports/NFL reporter, but directly with the WSJ and then the NYT, which seems more intentional and like an attempt to give Gruden no wiggle room.
- On Sunday it appeared that Gruden was going to survive the WSJ account that surfaced on Friday, and the very next day a second wave of more damaging emails shows up in the NYT.
I was a bit surprised to hear national people go out of their way to make these observations.
