It feels like keeping the rotten food in the refrigerator indefinitely.
you don't get rid of the rotten food to try and deter the rest of the food from going bad. You don't buy a bigger fridge because you have a lot of spoiled food. You get rid of it so it doesn't take up space and stink up the whole house.
and yes I value human life more than food. I only used the food analogy to help boil down the argument.
