Closer, but no cigar. Until the C8.
Even without that muscle under the hood, you really can't call it anything but a mid-engine sports car.
The C8 truly is designed to be a budget supercar. It's a sports car.
But would anyone really call a classic stingray a sports car? It's really not. And the C7 performed pretty darn well, but all that big V8 power up front...
Sports car? Very Americanized if so.
