I'm reminded of a really sad experience with my grandma
We were at my cousin's wedding lunch a few years ago, sitting at a table with my grandma. Throughout the meal, I noticed that she had a ziplock bag on her lap, and every few minutes, she'd quickly sneak a piece of broccoli or chicken into the ziplock bag. She was so discreet about it, but it was fun to watch for - obvious she'd practiced this her whole life.

Their family grew up in poverty, so it was just a way of life for them, not knowing where their next meal would come from, etc.. At her age they were retired with decent $$ coming in each month, but that way of life had just been so engrained in her that she was just used to doing things like that.
