a certain number of instate kids.

Many of the top football prospects continue to leave Utah despite there having been a P5 program in the state for over a decade, though. One would think Utah would/could have leveraged their conference affiliation into total instate recruiting dominance but they haven’t. Most of the top recruits have been landing at Oregon, Stanford, Washington, USC, and even places like Virginia and Bama.

I think BYU stands to have more of an immediate instate recruiting bump than Utah did. I think there are a lot of kids like the Nacuas that always liked BYU, but went elsewhere to play for a P5 school. If we can snag a few more kids like Simi Fehoko, Penei Sewell, or Cameron Latu instead of letting them leave the state, we’ll be in very good shape.
