ASU perennially finds themselves in the situation they are in, mostly because of their propensity for shooting themselves in the foot and making errors due to a lack of discipline. It's been the story of their program for decades, despite the abundance of talent especially at the skill positions. It's the reason I picked BYU to beat ASU. Whether or not a team will beat themselves is just as much a factor and team attribute just as is schedule, roster, depth, etc. There's lots that go into analysis of a game and it's rarely ever black or white. The BYU vs. Coastal Carolina game last year is a perfect example of that. I don't think you can just look at the scoreboard and say "whelp a L is a L" ... the variables surrounding that game definitely must be taken into consideration.
