Listen, we’ve been playing this QB game for decades now. The bottom line is the team loses and half the board wants to see the backup QB. I can go through years of history and see people begging for Nelson over Heaps, Hill over Nelson, Stewart over Hill, Mangum over Hill, Wilson over Mangum, Romney over Wilson, and now Romney over Hall.

Look back through that list. Those voices were right once, maybe twice. Wilson over Mangum. Nelson over Heaps probably as well, though Jake ended up on an NFL practice squad and Riley never came close to that.

I have been on the other side of every single one of those arguments except for Zach. Zach was special and it was abundantly clear very early. And yet several people wanted Baylor to start over a guy that went 2nd overall in the NFL draft. We HAVE to stop equating QB play to wins.
