We all want our kids to have more or better opportunities than we had… and we stretch our time thin leaving less time for quality family activities like skiing or biking or vacations. I know too many families who can never do anything because they have this practice or that lesson to take Jimmy or Susan to. I’m not sure if there’s a good solution though.
My kids are still young (elementary school and younger) so, we’re still trying to figure out what works for us. But HCBW and I often talk about being a skiing and biking family. Maybe not pushing sports and similar extracurricular activities for our kids even though we were both athletes at BYU.
