Cool. Just ran the numbers, and figured the square mileage line would run about
down the MT/WY/ND/SD/NE line. All states generally west of that add up to 1.75mil SQ mi, east of that add up to 1.78mil.

So the East would lose the weird western triangle of Texas (but would keep any city of note besides El Paso) and the West would lose about a fifth of Colorado.
