He apparently had LDS ancestors in AZ but they had dropped out. He started with Mack Brown at TX but was cut. He said he really had no interaction with him and he was more like a distant CEO.
He then went to Arizona and said coach Rodriguez was a psycho, he’d blow up like a volcano and do bizarre things. He finally got an opportunity at Virginia as a grad transfer, and he said it was a totally different environment, all the coaches had 6-7 kids and would go home for dinner.
Bronco had him and other players out riding horses on his ranch and talking to them one on one, and every day they would start practice with Bronco talking to them for 30 minutes and offering quotes from whatever book he was reading at the time. He said all the players really liked how he inspired them to be better men and felt lucky to have had the opportunity even though he realized the NFL was not his goal anymore. Thought it was interesting insight.
