I had surgery twice on the same shoulder.
I had a torn labrum (slap tear II if I recall correctly) and I spent 8-9 months rehabbing it diligently. The pain and weakness never got better despite months of rehab, massage, stretching, etc. I complained to my doctor at each check up telling him that it wasn't better. Finally after enough complaining the doc ordered another MRI.

That MRI revealed that I also had a torn subscap that was not repaired. I reviewed the first MRI notes prior to my first surgery and it presented in the first MRI, so the first surgeon just completely fumbled it. It should have been repaired during the first surgery.

I immediatley went to a different surgeon and he fixed the subscap tear and performed a bicep tenodisis. It's been great ever since and I'd say it's at 95-98%. But I effectively lost 1.5 years of doing activities that I love because of this.

I'm just sharing this to let you know that doctors are not gods and they screw things up all of the time. It may have never truly been fixed.

Best of luck!
