In watching the NLCS, yes, the shift has made plenty of outs that otherwise would not have been. It’s especially adept at taking away the hit up the middle (unless you lazily try to back hand it with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth and the winning run on second).
That said, I’ve been seeing plenty of hitters push the ball to the open field for a hit that otherwise would not have been one, and this has even scored a few runs.
Batters need to ban the shift by hitting to the wide open field. I’m all for batters learning how to hit again rather than always chasing the deep ball. If the shift is helping to encourage skillful hitting, I think that’s great.

It isn't an effective way to score right now so those players aren't rewarded. Look at the pay of high OBP, low ISO guys

Hitters simply won’t gap it the other way. People that expect the league to naturally employ this as a strategy against
